Two Great Ways to Reduce Waste In The Office!

1) Eco Water Bottles

Last year we wanted to try to reduce plastic waste significantly. We decided to purchase eco water bottles for all members of staff in the division and it was agreed that bottles would be purchased for all new members of staff for the foreseeable future.

We have noticed that this has significantly decreased plastic waste as nearly all members of staff use their eco water bottles. We also feel that by offering new members of staff a water bottle during their induction period, we will encourage them to be sustainable and realise that sustainability is of utmost priority throughout the division. 

2) Hug Mugs

The Green Impact team noticed that several people in the division purchased a hot beverage nearly every day. With over 60 people in the division, if everyone bought one cup of coffee every day we would use over 20,000 paper cups a year.

To try and reduce the amount of paper cups we use, the division purchased a selection of hug mugs. All Green Impact Team Members were given a hug mug for free to try and encourage other people in the division to use them. Staff members in the division are able to purchase hug mugs from our green impact team at a reduced price of £5 or they can buy them full price at any food on campus outlet. Several people have now purchased hug mugs and we believe it has significantly reduced our paper usage.
