Leftover Lunch Club!

Could you run a leftover lunch club in your office to reduce food waste?

The ‘Munch Lunch Bunch’ is a group of ‘foodie’ colleagues  in our division who want to cook and eat nice healthy lunches but really don’t have time to make something nice all of the time. The idea is, members of the group take it in turns to cook for the rest of the group and we all eat together. Members use lots of leftovers from their fridges/cupboards and members can opt in and out of the lunch club as works for their own schedule.

Here are just some facts about food waste:
  • We throw away 7 million tonnes of food and drink from our homes each year, the majority of which could have been eaten.
  • Food wasted from our homes in the UK would fill 9 Wembley stadiums to the brim!
  • The impact on the environment of throwing away lettuce is 100 times greater than the packet it comes in.
  •  It takes around 100 buckets of water to produce one loaf of bread
  • Using leftovers is a great way to prevent food wastage in your own home
